Partnering with Roots for the Home Team

We’re excited to partner with Roots for the Home Team to bring you their fresh and healthy salads in our deli. Youth involved in Roots for the Home Team grow their own ingredients for salads, use their inventiveness to help develop recipes, and sell their creations at Target Field during Minnesota Twins’ weekend home games.

Roots0414Roots for the Home Team creates life-enhancing, influential opportunities for young people, and partners with youth garden programs in ethnically diverse areas of the Twin Cities, such as Urban Roots and Youth Farm. Mississippi Market is excited to show off the culinary talents of Roots for the Home Team participants by sharing their salads with you. By including their salads alongside our own deli options, we get to highlight this awesome program and help the kids reach a larger audience.

A partnership like this shows our youth that their skill level in creating recipes is significant enough to interest a well-established store,” says Susan Moore, of Roots for the Home Team. “It also enables them to contribute to, positively affect and be part of a much bigger community.”

Look for these Roots for the Home team salads this summer:
