Known for a comprehensive assortment of Minnesota natives and an extensive vegetable and herb selection, our annual plant sale enthusiastically ushers in the return of Minnesota’s peak growing season. We are foregoing the Early Bloomer Sale this year in favor of a longer plant sale, running April 27 through May 30 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily at all three stores. You’ll find the largest selection at our West 7th store and a smaller variety at Selby and East 7th. We look forward to helping you find the perfect additions to your garden!
Our plants are locally sourced from Glacial Ridge Growers (Glenwood, Minn.), Green Earth Growers (Prior Lake, Minn.), and Rush Creek Growers (Spring Valley, Wis.). They are strongly committed to sustainable and organic growing practices and are vigilant about preventing the spread of invasive species. We are also welcoming a new seed company with some interesting new varieties of vegetable seeds: North Circle Seeds in Vergas, Minn. Find them at our East 7th and West 7th stores!
Expanded Medicinal Plant Offerings
We are excited to offer 53 medicinal plants at our West 7th store this year. Join herbalist Laurie Witzkowski’s virtual class on April 27 to learn about the wonders and benefits of cultivating a garden of medicinal plants.
New Dye Plants
Together with the Textile Center of Minnesota, we have come up with a collection of dye plants to be easily grown in your home garden, including Dyers Chamomile and Japanese Indigo. You will also find plenty of common dye plants that may already be on your “must-plant” list: coreopsis, marigold, cosmos, hollyhocks and zinnias.
Welcoming BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Growers
Two new growers will be added to our list of plant sale vendors. Der Thao from B and D Farm and Lakisha Witter from Live Organically will be growing all of the special-order offerings we are bringing into the sale. This will include herbs, medicinals, dye plants and vegetables.
