Image for Staff Profile: Meet Oliver Twait

As a community-owned and cooperatively operated business, co-op employees are some of Mississippi Market’s greatest assets. Our friendly, dedicated staff possess a wealth of knowledge. They work diligently to provide you with access to the freshest, healthiest foods and the safest, most effective personal health and beauty care products available. Our three stores employ over 200 people from our surrounding local communities who are passionate about sustainably grown and humanely raised foods; supporting local family farmers, vendors and makers; and nurturing the health of people and the planet. We wouldn’t be here without them!

Meet Oliver Twait – East 7th Store Director

What brought you to the co-op?

I was looking for a workplace that blended my love of leading and developing a team and being more in line with what is right for our community, co-op members and staff. I am used to a much higher-volume retail setting, and being able to really dive in to find ways to be more efficient and make positive changes was presented in this role at the co-op.

What are you most excited about as you settle into your new role?

I am looking forward to seeing the changes that an outside perspective can bring to best serve our customers and members. I can already see the strong assets that we have in the store, and being able to deliver them to their fullest to the community has me unbelievably excited.

What do you like to do during your free time?

Most of my free time is spent with my wife and our three dachshunds, as well as the number of other pets we have. We foster kittens from time to time, but we’ve also had squirrels. Otherwise, I can be found working on one of my cars.

What’s one of your favorite foods? Any favorite St. Paul restaurants?

I’m a big fan of kombucha. I have an amazing recipe I use to brew my own and it is second to none (in my opinion, at least). One of my top restaurants is J. Selby’s. Being a vegan, it’s refreshing to go somewhere and order anything on the menu.
