Each time you shop at the co-op, you have a chance to directly support local community partners by donating your 10-cent reusable bag credits and rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact — to the tune of over $10,000 each month for our Positive Change recipients!
The Lift Community Development Corporation
Building leaders on the East Side
August’s Positive Change recipient is The Lift Community Development Corporation, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening youth and families who live in Saint Paul’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood. Since 2006, they’ve come to understand that when young people from the East Side are nurtured, educated, hired, and retained as responsible employees, community revitalization flourishes. The Lift offers age-specific programs customized for at-risk youth focused on strengthening leadership development skills. Through their programming, The Lift creates and restores mutually respectful relationships between people from diverse backgrounds, who together invest in St. Paul’s East Side youth, equipping them to become self-sustaining, productive, and caring adults.
August Positive Change funds will support mental and physical wellness improvements in The Lift’s elementary and teen programs. This will include improving the quality of healthful food served to students during family-style meals, increased support for their mindfulness curriculum, and investments in higher quality equipment for active games.
