Create Positive Change
Each time you shop at the co-op, you have a chance to directly support local nonprofits by donating your 10-cent reusable bag credits and rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact — to the tune of over $10,000 each month for our Positive Change recipients!
CLUES
September’s Positive Change recipient is CLUES. Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES) is Minnesota’s largest Latino-led nonprofit organization, founded in 1981 by and for Latinos. Their headquarters is located just three blocks from our East 7th store. CLUES is a multi-faceted, one-stop hub providing services on economic empowerment, educational enrichment, health and family well-being, and community engagement.
Positive Change Donations will support these two programs in particular:
- Canasta Familiar: The CLUES food distribution and services hub. CLUES serves over 15,000 people annually and continues to see a rise in participants accessing food distribution sites as food costs increase. Every Monday, starting at 3 p.m. and while supplies last, CLUES offers free food distribution and job search services, career and certification training, financial empowerment coaching, tax processing, housing counseling, and much more.
- Jardin Comunitario: The CLUES Community Garden is a space to gather, learn, share, heal, celebrate, and envision the future. CLUES and community members envision a permanent community-led green space where individuals can foster their own health through a culturally relevant connection to food-growing traditions.
Donations collected at the registers will be used to purchase food for the distribution site and tools for our community garden.
