Drop-In Food Scrap Dye Class
This is a drop-in opportunity. Come anytime from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. There is no need to register for this one.
Use food scraps to create a unique design on a bandana or tea towel. Teachers will guide students through the dye process and steam your garment as you shop in the grocery store. On this event date, the market will have sampling from local farmers, vendors, and other goodies throughout the store. All supplies for this class are included in the registration fee. Use the provided food scrap materials, or you can gather food scraps from home and bring them with you!
What food scraps work well for natural plant dye: beet peels, wilted greens, yellow and red onion skins, coffee grounds, avocado skins, turmeric, tea leaves, and so much more
This is an all-ages opportunity. Kids are welcome with a supervising adult.
Steaming to set the dye takes approximately 60 minutes. Participants will also be provided information on how to steam the garment at home.
