Create Positive Change
Each time you shop at the co-op, you have a chance to directly support local nonprofits by donating your 10-cent reusable bag credits and rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact — to the tune of over $10,000 each month for our Positive Change recipients!
Meet The SEAD Project
Mission: The SEAD Project (Southeast Asian Diaspora) is a community organization on a mission to be an accessible creative hub that provides streamlined workshops and tools to engage and share knowledge in Khmer, Hmong, Lao and Viet diaspora communities. Through safe and welcoming spaces, we hope to grow empowerment to plant the seeds of hope and possibility, locally and globally.
About The SEAD Project
The programs center Southeast Asian communities, including people who identify as having Hmong, Lao, Khmer, Viet or other Southeast Asian ethnic heritage. Minnesota alone is home to over 150,000 members of the Southeast Asian diaspora (API Caucus of MN, 2023). For decades, finding readily accessible arts or cultural programming facilitated by the community has been extremely challenging. Their programs serve all ages, with a particular focus on reaching youth ages 16-25 and providing multigenerational programs that connect youth and elders in our community.
Funds will be used to Support the language class initiative. The SEAD project offers workshops in Southeast Asian Languages, History, Culture and Social Issues.
