Create Positive Change

Each time you shop at the co-op, you have a chance to directly support local nonprofits by donating your 10-cent reusable bag credits and rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact — to the tune of over $10,000 each month for our Positive Change recipients!

Meet Dream of Wild Health

Mission:

Restoring health and well-being in the Native community by recovering knowledge of and access to healthy indigenous foods, medicines, and lifeways.

Dream of wild health 1

Overview Dream of Wild Health (DWH) is one of the oldest Native-led nonprofits in the Twin Cities. The organization promotes health and wellness through culturally grounded opportunities for youth leadership, employment, and entrepreneurship; by increasing access to Indigenous foods through farm production, sales, and distribution; and through education that supports the reclamation of cultural traditions, Indigenous cooking, and nutrition.

Programs and Activities

  • Farm in Hugo, MN Operates a 30-acre educational farm that reconnects the urban Native community with traditional plants and their culinary, medicinal, and spiritual uses.
  • Indigenous Food Share (IFS) Runs a CSA program and sells produce at local farmers markets.
  • Youth Programs Engages Native youth in gardening, cooking, and leadership development rooted in cultural knowledge.
  • Community Partnerships Collaborates with urban and tribal organizations to strengthen mental, physical, and spiritual health in the Native community.

What the donations will be used for:

November donations will be used to expand and develop farmland and food production to better support and meet the needs of our most vulnerable community members.
