Nothing’s better than cold, juicy melon on a hot summer day.

Use your senses to pick out the best fruit:

  1. Look for a melon that is heavy for its size.
  2. Tap your watermelon — it will sound hollow when ripe!
  3. Note the color. Watermelons usually have a large, discolored spot on one side, where they rested on the ground as they grew. If the spot is yellow, it’s a riper melon than if it’s whitish.
  4. For melons like cantaloupe and honeydew, press where the vine was attached. It will give slightly and smell fresh and sweet when ripe.

Melons you’ll find at the co-op throughout the summer:

  • Galia Melon
  • Canary Melon
  • Sugar Cube Melon
  • Musk Melon
  • Cantaloupe
  • Honeydew
  • Watermelon
  • Sharlyn Melon

Our watermelons include yellow and orange varieties!
