Create Positive Change

Each time you shop at the co-op, you have a chance to directly support local nonprofits by donating your 10-cent reusable bag credits and rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact — to the tune of over $10,000 each month for our Positive Change recipients!


The mission: The mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, Inc. is to improve the quality of life in our community by providing access to critical human services; fostering and promoting African American heritage, personal growth, self-sufficiency, and self-determination; and developing community leadership. 

 

Overview: HQB is a multi-service resource center offering programs to meet the diverse needs of a multicultural community while maintaining the core value of supporting and promoting African American heritage and culture. HQB is located a few blocks from the Selby Mississippi Market in the historic Rondo neighborhood (now Summit-University). With one of the most active food shelves in the area, HQB has developed a reputation as a prominent leader in the field around addressing hunger in Minnesota. 

 

Hallie Q Brown Community Center’s Main Programs: 

  • Basic Needs Program Which includes a client-choice food shelf and clothing closet. 
  • Senior Programs HQB serves as a gathering place for seniors to enhance their independence through connection to services and activities. 
  • Early Childhood Education and Youth Enrichment Programs A safe, affordable, engaging, and fun learning environment for children year-round. 

 

Donations will be used to support the Basic Needs Program in providing culturally relevant items to all visitors.
