Create Positive Change

Each time you shop at the co-op, you have a chance to directly support local nonprofits by donating your 10-cent reusable bag credits and rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact — to the tune of over $10,000 each month for our Positive Change recipients!

Mission:

Create economic opportunity for the Latinx community by fostering entrepreneurship growth, workforce advancement and education opportunities, and by supporting business development as a vehicle for reducing social and economic disparities.

Background:

LEDC MN is located on the East Side of St. Paul, just down the street from Mississippi Market’s East 7th store. LEDC’s key programs are business development, agriculture, training, and lending.

LEDC is in the process of transforming Plaza Del Sol—a 26,000-square-foot mall on the corner of Payne and Jenks—into a space for Latinx Food Business Owners to learn and grow their businesses. Plaza Del Sol will house several food businesses, have a large space for community gatherings, classrooms, and be a beacon on the East side for inclusive business practices and green technology. The building is expected to be completed in 2025.

Donations will support Latinx entrepreneurs’ business development at Plaza del Sol.
