Create Positive Change
Each time you shop at the co-op, you have a chance to directly support local community partners by donating your 10-cent reusable bag credits and rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact — to the tune of over $11,000 each month for our Positive Change recipients!
Youth Farm
August’s Positive Change recipient is Youth Farm, which utilizes food as a catalyst for social change, community engagement and leadership development. Their mission is to farm to grow food, community and, most importantly, young leaders.
Youth Farm engages youth ages 9-24 from St. Paul who build leadership skills through planting, growing, preparing, cooking, eating and distributing food in their own neighborhoods. This past growing season, Youth Farm grew over 12,000 plant starts in their greenhouse that were distributed to 11 Youth Farm-run gardens, four community partners, three school distributions, and dozens of families.
Funds raised at co-op registers in August will invest in the leadership of youth through year-round food, farming and nutrition programming in schools, kitchens, greenhouses and community greenspaces across St. Paul.
