Create Positive Change

Each time you shop at the co-op, you have a chance to directly support local community partners by donating your 10-cent reusable bag credits and rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact — to the tune of over $11,000 each month for our Positive Change recipients!

Dream of Wild Health

November’s Positive Change recipient is Dream of Wild Health (DWH), which works to restore health and well-being in the Native community by recovering knowledge of and access to healthy Indigenous foods, medicines and lifeways.

DWH is one of the oldest Native-led nonprofits in the Twin Cities. They promote healthy nutrition and living by creating culturally based opportunities for youth employment, entrepreneurship and leadership; increasing access to Indigenous foods through farm production, sales and distribution; and providing community outreach and education around reclaiming cultural traditions, healthy Indigenous food, cooking skills and nutrition.

DWH is responding to the increased needs of Twin Cities’ Native families, especially on the East Side of St. Paul and the Phillips neighborhood in Minneapolis, who are reeling from the inequitable hardships of the pandemic, recession and continued racial violence.

Donations collected at the registers will be used to expand and develop farmland and food production to better support and meet the needs of the most vulnerable community members.
