Decadent Chocolate Custard

  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 3 Tbsp. cane sugar, divided
  • 1 lage egg yolk
  • 3 oz. bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/8 tsp. sea salt
  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
Servings: people
  1. In a small saucepan, combine milk and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.
  2. Put egg yolk in a small bowl and slowly whisk in hot milk.
  3. Return mixture to saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring until slightly thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and add chocolate, butter, and salt. Combine until smooth.
  5. Pour custard into two bowls and chill for several minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, beat heavy cream with remaining sugar until soft peaks form. Add to the top of custard before serving.
